Attributed income

When a party is not working or is unreasonably underemployed, a court can, when determining child and spousal support, attribute that person an income higher than what they are earning. Generally, everyone is attributed at least minimum wage for 40 hours a week. In cases where someone quit a higher-paying job to take a lower-paying one, the Court may attribute them their former salary.
