Voidable Marriage
A voidable marriage is one where an impediment to the marriage exists, but the aggrieved party may nonetheless choose to ratify it. For example, if one spouse tricked the other spouse into marrying them, the spouse who was tricked can choose to remain married or have the marriage annulled. And where a void marriage is invalid from the beginning, a voidable marriage is valid at their inception; however, if annulled, the marriage will be deemed to have been invalid from its inception.
